A COVID-19 booster is currently being reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration.  Both Pfizer and Moderna have developed boosters to their vaccines to the COVID-19 virus.  These boosters have been modified from their original vaccines to better cover the newer variants.  The FDA and the CDC will probably recommend booster shots for individuals over 60 years of age later this year but for now they are not available.

These boosters are different than the “third shot” that are currently being recommended for those that are severely immune suppressed.  The “third shot” is simply another shot of the original Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.
