Smythe, M.D.Psychiatrist | Holistic and Integrative Treatment | Collaborative and Balanced Care As a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Caroline Smythe collaboratively addresses the biology of the individual, as well as one’s emotional and spiritual needs within the context of the person’s defined family, today’s culture, and nature as a whole. Dr. Smythe completed her medical degree, psychiatry training, as well as a fellowship in community psychiatry, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She went on to complete training and certification in a body-oriented psychotherapy modality, (Rubenfeld Synergy), as well as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction training with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. At Colorado College in Colorado Springs, she received a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. She has also studied nutrition over the years. Dr. Smythe has practiced holistic and integrative care for more than six years. She worked as a community psychiatrist for more than 12 years in South Carolina and in Lane County. She focuses on the body’s stress response system and how to approach each person in discerning not only the cause of his or her symptoms, but the meaning of those symptoms, as well.
